Minimalist Productivity: Why Simple Tools Work
Learning about productivity has been a journey, sometimes keeping me awake at night. Not a good thing, as lack of quality sleep also decreases productivity. However, my journey of self-discovery and understanding how I work has truly been valuable in maintaining my sanity.
Recently, I’ve simplified my productivity tools to using Apple Notes, Things, and Apple Calendar, and I’ve found immense value in this approach. From my experience, the benefits of having easy access to these tools have propelled me closer to my goals. But what are the true advantages of using simpler productivity tools compared to all-in-one productivity apps that promise increased productivity?
1. Accessibility of Input
Having a dedicated app for note-taking, task management, and time management has significantly improved my consistency in capturing information. While I primarily use my Bullet Journal as my main capture tool, triaging the information I capture is much easier. If I have a meeting to attend, I add it to my calendar. If I need to read or view information later, I save it in Notes. If a task requires immediate attention (or a lack of urgency), I add it to my Things Inbox.
