My Thoughts on Using Apple’s Stock Productivity Apps
Free doesn’t always mean inferior
For the past few months, I’ve been exclusively using Apple’s own productivity suite of apps. I even gradually transitioned my file management system from Google Drive to iCloud Drive. I understand that switching between apps can be costly, but there are times when these experiments are beneficial for me.
I have a knack for exploring productivity apps and developing systems with them in general. While I enjoy experimenting with flashy new paid or subscription apps, I’ve never tried Apple’s stock apps.
With my transition from switching back to Apple and embracing an iPad-only lifestyle, I have no choice but to ensure that the productivity tools I use are optimized for my workflow. Here are some non-negotiable features I need:
- It should be optimized for iOS/iPad OS experience — since I am using an iPad as my main computer, this is important to me. Handoff is one of the features I frequently use with this.
- It should be intuitive — Drag and Drop feature especially when using multitasking on Stage Manager
- It should be within my budget — I don’t want to pay more subscriptions for apps and services promising me to be more productive.
